Why am I being asked?
You have been selected to participate in this research because, through your role within your organization, you can provide helpful information on issues manufacturers face in the international shipping industry.
Your participation in this research is voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future dealings with The Lee Systems Corp. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time. A maximum of 30 subjects may be involved in this research study.
What is the purpose of this research?
The purpose of this research is to learn about the challenges shipping internationally. To gain insight regarding ways in which our system can offer tailored solutions to those challenges. The study attempts to understand the usefulness for our system and the ability to create a product which will benefit everyone in the industry.
What procedures are involved?
This study involves interviewing logistics personnel within your organization. Interviews for this study will take place via telephone or Skype. Each interview should last no longer than 45 minutes. There will be no compensation for participation. All interviews will be audio recorded.
What are potential risks and discomforts?
To the best of our knowledge; your participation will have no more risk of physical harm than you would experience in everyday life. A risk of this research is a loss of privacy (revealing to others that you are taking part in this study) or confidentiality (revealing information about you to others to whom you have not given permission to see this information). The research team will take all measures to ensure privacy and confidentiality are protected.
Are there benefits to taking part in this research?
Taking part in this research will help develop a technology to aid in solving issues plaguing the international shipping industry. If you choose to go forward with the study you will have the exclusive opportunity to beta test the software before it is made public to the market offering you and your organization an advantage over your competition.
What about privacy and confidentiality?
The only people who will know that you are a research subject are members of the research team. Otherwise information about you will only be disclosed to others with your written permission, or if necessary to protect your rights or welfare or if required by law. Confidentiality of all subjects will be protected within the scope of this study.
Your identity, as an employee within your organization, and your decision to consent or decline to participate in this research study will not be shared with any representative of your organization or with any other participant in this study. The results of the research will not published, no information will be included that would reveal your identity. Your name or company’s name will not be associated with published research findings in any way.
Within the interview process, audio recording equipment may be use to ensure the accuracy of the information received. You may request that the interviewer turn off all audio recording equipment during any phase of the interview. All data, including tape recordings, data files and transcripts, will be password protected and encrypted.
Can I withdraw or be removed from the study?
If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw your consent and discontinue participation at any time without bias or penalty. Please feel free to contact Jaz Foster at Jaz.Foster@theleesystems.com or Cherie Avinger at info@theleesystems.com regarding withdrawal from the study. The researcher also retains the right to stop your participation in this study without your consent if they believe it is in your best interest.
